ARCHITECTURE 166: ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN I
Brief: Design a house for a couple, Rocio and Leo. The couple are in their early 50’s. Leo is a writer. Rocio is a sculptor. They both work from home. When not working, Rocio and Leo enjoy entertaining friends and family. They also enjoy recreational activities in water. The couple have a long history of recreational boating. The couple have purchased a lot in a new development in the city of Chicago where houses are built directly adjacent to man-made canals. The development is modeled off of similar developments in other parts of the world. Ro has a rare vision condition called retinitis pigmentosa. She has trouble seeing in dim lighting and is beginning to lose peripheral vision. The house must be designed to accommodate her diminishing vision.
